Over a forty-year career, Paul Smith has created a global brand and established himself as one of the UK’s most celebrated fashion designers. Previous collaborations include projects with David Bowie and Leica.

We worked alongside Derek Welsh Studio to produce, brand and package a limited-edition set of dominoes to be sold through Paul Smith flagship stores in London, Paris, New York and Tokyo.

Handcrafted in walnut, and cut at oblique angles, each set of dominoes is finished in Paul Smith signature navy and pink. This project celebrates a passion for detail and finish that is shared by all three studios.



Identity

We created a bespoke typographic word-marque to brand this project. An obvious link to the dots of a domino and a colour palette derived from the classic Paul Smith Pink and Navy combination.


Product

Each domino was hand-crfated by Derek himself. Cut at oblique angles and drilled with the requisite holes.

This project celebrates a passion for detail and finish that is shared by all three studios.

Packaging

Bespoke oblique boxes were created to house the dominoes, each one foil block and colour matched to the product.

Paul Smith fabric was used to make a storage bag. The collaboration underpins the Paul Smith brand by realising its core values in a one-off collectable.

Event

We launched the product with a dominoes night near our Glasgow studio, it was a fiercely fought evening, the prize? A box of PS Oblique.
